About Swiss Skeli and La Catrina in Acapulco Postcard
Swiss Skeli and La Catrina took a little honeymoon trip to Acapulco. It is Mexico’s largest beach. It is famous for it’s cliff divers.
In this picture, we see our favorite couple under Swiss Skeli’s new sombrero watching the “La Quebrada Cliff Divers”. They are a group of professional high divers, diving 30 meters (100 ft) or 41 meters (135 ft) from the cliffs of La Quebrada into the sea below. The sea is 135 feet down into a small channel below. The water is no more than 13 feet deep at times. Their ages vary from 13 to 57. Timing is crucial for the divers, otherwise.... You can only imagine, though there have never been any fatalities! It is very breathtaking!
Trivia: Elvis Presley made the film “Fun in Acapulco” in 1963 that brought the cliffs and their divers to worldwide attention. If you actually want to hear the King TRYING to sing in spanish, google “Elvis - Guadalajara” and then look for the real filmclip. Truly funny, but sweet.
This postcard is from around the 1960's. All cards mounted on white 250 g/m² paper with trimmed edges. Vintage postcard, collaged and overpainted with acrylic paint, 14.5 x 10 cm, no frame. Signed and dated in pencil on back. This can be easily erased in the event you want to use the card.
The cards are packaged in cellophane with an informative text about the history of the image on each card and when it was first published.
Please note that since these are antique postcards, some might contain small tears, pinholes and/or scratches. Fleshy tries her best to lovingly craft each card, but sometimes a tear might be too close to the overall subject to cut it out. The actual colors might differ slightly from your monitor.
Every postcard is a small, unique work of art!
Delivery throughout Europe and overseas is with normal postal mail in cardboard envelopes so nothing should bend. Postage and packaging are calculated at checkout.
