About Swiss Skeli at Waldhorn Postcard
Walking up the Aargauerstalden, Swiss Skeli comes through the back neighborhoods to a very trendy quarter called the “Breitsch” or “Breitenrain”. It is the area between Wankdorf, Lorraine and Spitalacker, originally referred only to the sloping terrain between Birkenweg, Nordring, Breitenrainstrasse and Scheibenstrasse. In the last decade of the nineteenth century, the small hill south of Breitenrainplatz was called “Waldhöhe” because of a few old conifers. Because of this, the names “Waldhorn” and “Waldheim” were created. As it is the weekend, Swiss Skeli was looking for a restaurant to take La Catrina to and made reservations at the “Waldhorn”. The research on the history of this postcard greeting has proved somewhat confusing – bear with us – to relate. This has to do with the names “Waldhorn”, and “Waldheim”. The later is situated in the Länggasse on another end of Berne.
Material
This postcard is from around 1900. All cards mounted on white 250 g/m² paper with trimmed edges. Vintage postcard, overpainted with acrylic paint, 8.9 x 13.8 cm, no frame. Signed and dated in pencil on back. This can be easily erased in the event you want to use the card.
The cards are packaged in cellophane with an informative text about the history of the image on each card and when it was first published.
Please note that since these are antique postcards, some might contain small tears, pinholes and/or scratches. Fleshy tries her best to lovingly craft each card, but sometimes a tear might be too close to the overall subject to cut it out. The actual colors might differ slightly from your monitor.
