Swiss Skeli in the Domitilla Catacomb
About Swiss Skeli in the Domitilla Catacomb
Swiss Skeli and La Catrina are driving out of Rome. They decide to stop on the way for a drink at the Domitilla Catacomb. This is actually one of the largest and most ancient underground cemeteries in Rome. Has anyone been there?
They are 16 metres underground on a property belonging to Flavia Domitilla going back to the year 120 A.D. They still have beautiful frescos preserved underground.
This is the only Catacomb in Rome which has an underground Basilica dedicated to the Holy Martyrs Nereo and Achilleo, along with Saint Petronilla, daughter of St. Peter. They have around 26,000 tombs, with still some human remains, which is rare.
This postcard is from 1933. All cards mounted on white 250 g/m² paper with trimmed edges. Vintage postcard, overpainted with acrylic paint, 9 x 143.9 cm, no frame. Signed and dated in pencil on back. This can be easily erased in the event you want to use the card.
Please note that since these are antique postcards, some might contain small tears, pinholes and/or scratches. Fleshy tries her best to lovingly craft each card, but sometimes a tear might be too close to the overall subject to cut it out. The actual colors might differ slightly from your monitor.
Every postcard is a small, unique work of art!
Delivery throughout Europe and overseas is with normal postal mail in cardboard envelopes so nothing should bend. Postage and packaging are calculated at checkout.
