Mushy Skeli would like to introduce yet another friend of his, Monsieur Skeli Ploink.

Here we see Monsieur Ploink on top of a “Rubroboletus satanas”, more commonly known as Satan's or the Devil's bolete. Very suiting for a banjo playing Skeli don’t you think? This lovely Fungi’s cap can reach an impressive 30 cm (12 in), extraordinarily 40 cm (16 in), very rarely 50 cm (20 in) in diameter. It is utterly toxic but Mushy believes Ploink’s music transforms the poison into beauty.

The German mycologist Harald Othmar Lenz named and described this bolete Boletus satanas in 1831 (see the name „Lenz“ in the original print, at bottom).

Material

The original print is from "Central European Mushrooms", 180 plates in 6-8 color offset printing after originals by Claus Caspari. Comprehensive description on the back. (Original titel:"Mitteleuropäische Pilze", 180 Tafeln in 6-8 farbigem Offsetdruck nach Originalen von Claus Caspari. Umfassende Beschreibung auf der Rückseite, Kronen-Verlag, Erich Cramer, Hamburg, 1963).

This original print is overpainted with Monsieur Skeli Ploink in acrylic paints. Size: 26.9 x 18.9 cm (10.6 x 7.44 inches approx.). Signed and dated in pencil on back. Sold unmounted, no frame.

This is a lovingly painted, unique work of art! The actual colors might differ slightly from your monitor.
