Swiss Skeli at St. Paul's Church, Berne

Swiss Skeli is back! ...and in the Länggasse neighborhood of Berne in front of the St. Paul's Church. This is a master fusion of neo-Gothic and neo-Baroque forms as well as Art Déco.

In 1900 a competition was held with free choice of architectural style. The jury included Hans Auer, Rene v. Wurstemberger, Friedrich Bluntschli and Paul Reber. Robert Curiel and Karl Moser were picked from 86 entries. Construction started in 1902 overseen by Walther Joss, set back only half a year by a carpenters strike in the summer of 1905.

The ground plan has the shape of a cross. The tower is located in the south east corner and is 8 meters wide. This church is a beautiful work of art and Swiss Skeli greatly recommends to see it if you are ever in Berne! See post for full text: @the_calavera_club

Material

All cards mounted on white 250 g/m² paper with trimmed edges. Vintage postcard, overpainted with acrylic paint, H x B cm, no frame. Signed and dated in pencil on back. This can be easily erased in the event you want to use the card.

The cards are packaged in cellophane with an informative text about the history of the image on each card and when it was first published.

Please note that since these are antique postcards, some might contain small tears, pinholes and/or scratches. Fleshy tries her best to lovingly craft each card, but sometimes a tear might be too close to the overall subject to cut it out. The actual colors might differ slightly from your monitor.
